Port of Boston – Is one of the most modern and efficient container ports for cargo shipments.  The Atlantic Ocean is a mere four miles of harbor navigation from Boston.   Conley Terminal located in South Boston, MA is the major port of Boston.  It is 101 acres and has 2,000 feet of berthing space.  The terminal has a dedicated haul road connecting to the major interstate highways of I-93, I-90 and I-95 with a rail transfer facility at Beacon Park, only four miles away.  The Port also has a state-of-the-art ten-lane gate facility with computer tracking system.  

Boston also has two other major ports.  The Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, located in Boston Marine Industrial Park serves over 100,000 cruises passengers are year.  The automobile import and export industry is a large market in Boston with a major autoport located in Charlestown, MA. 

bostrnLoganAerial.jpg (37394 bytes) Logan International Airport – Logan offers service to major cities around the world and is a gateway to a six-state region.  It has a gross regional product of $350 billion and it handled over 440,000 tons in 1997.  It ranks eleventh among U.S. airports.  It has over 150 freight forwarders and broker with a 300-year tradition of trade and commerce.  It also links to the major highways.  T.F. Green Airport located in Rhode Island is located less than an hour away, which also provides cargo services.

Rail Service – CSX is the major rail service in Greater Boston.  They have 325 employees and have a route of 474 miles.  Their primary commodities transported are automotive, paper, food and consumer goods.  CSX moves around 4.2 million tons of rail freight a year with $63 billion in value of goods transported.  They also have a working relationship with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for commuter rail operations.

The Central Artery gives access to the downtown area, and the Southeast Expressway extends to the South Shore area. The Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) crosses Route 128 in Weston and terminates in West Stockbridge, with an extension to the New York Thruway.  Interstate 93 passes through the eastern sector of the city.
